    The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers revealed the imposition of high customs duties on the importation of 9 consumer goods in order to protect the local product.
    "The Cabinet approved the recommendation of the concerned authority in the Department of Industrial Development and Organization of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals on the protection of products by imposing an additional customs duty based on the provisions of Article 14 of the Protection of Products Law," the Secretariat said in a statement quoted by the newspaper " Iraq No. 11 of 2010 amended ".
    The statement added that "the decision referred to the imposition of an additional customs duty of 20% of the value of the unit of measurement of the product of men's suit imported to Iraq from countries and originators of all customs item (62031900) for four years without reduction and control of the domestic market during the period of application of additional customs duties" .
    He added, "The imposition of an additional customs duty of 30% of the unit of measurement of the minor producers of white garments means clear containers and containers imported to Iraq from the countries and the producers of all the two customs items (34022022 and 34022010) for four years without reduction and control of the local market during the period of application of fees Additional customs ".
    He added: "The imposition of an additional customs duty of 50% of the unit of measurement of the chicken product, chicken pieces and all the products listed in the sections of the customs item (02.07) for imported imported frozen chicken meat and from all countries and producers for four years without reduction and control of the local market during the period of application of customs duties With the cancellation of all customs exemptions, whether for private, public or mixed sectors or for any reason whatsoever. "
    He pointed out that "imposing an additional customs duty of 26% of the unit of measurement of the product of the imported stations to Iraq from all countries and producers for four years without reduction and control of the local market during the period of application of additional customs duties, as well as the imposition of an additional customs duty of 100% measuring products Annona vaccine Neo Castle vaccine PPR PPR imported into Iraq from all countries and origins with tariff items (30023000.04029920.04029120) for a period of four years and without areduction, and control the local market during the period of application of the additional customs duties. "
    The statement added that "an additional customs duty of 27% of the unit of measurement of the producers of the Thromstone Block and theLANSOPRAZOL 15MGTABLET imported to Iraq from all countries and exporters of the two customs items (30043900 and 68101100) for four years without reduction and control of the local market during the period of application of additional customs duties" .
    The statement pointed to "imposing an additional customs duty of 200% of the unit of measurement of the textbook product for the primary and secondary levels imported to Iraq from all countries and producers with the customs item 49019930 for four years without reduction and control of the local market during the period of application of additional customs duties."
    He pointed out that "the imposition of a customs duty of 85% of the unit of measurement of potato chips imported to Iraq from countries and producers of all customs item 19059080 for four years without reduction, and control of the domestic market during the period of application of additional customs duties.
    He pointed out that "the General Customs Authority of the Ministry of Finance applies the additional customs duties for the said products and the notifications of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals / Department of Industrial Development and Organization periodically on the amount of Iraqi imports of the said products of the said products and the value of additional customs duties being levied on imports from the product Foreign currency, value of imports, export countries and importers.
    The Secretariat of the Council of Ministers that "this decision is implemented from 5/8/2018," indicating that "it came in line with the Iraqi government's directions on the protection of domestic products and support the national industry."
