The French Foreign Ministry called on the international coalition to hold an emergency meeting against the backdrop of the Turkish military operation in northeastern Syria.
Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said in a statement that the coalition should hold a meeting as soon as possible, given the possibility that the Islamic State could benefit from changing conditions in northern Syria.
He called on the international coalition to clarify what needs to be done in light of the sensitive stage the region is going through and clarify ways to respond to Turkey, in addition to clarifying ways to maintain prisons that include elements of ISIS.
