The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed today, Monday, the production of more than four and a half million local wheat, and this amount covers the need for 90 percent of the ration card.
Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mahdi Al-Qaisi said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), which was seen by Sada, “The Ministry of Agriculture produced four million and 700 thousand tons of wheat, which covers 90 percent of the ration card, in addition to distributing 277 thousand tons of grade seeds. Olaya to wheat to farmers, which covers about 85 percent of the farmers ’need to grow wheat.
He pointed out that "the import of 30 agricultural and animal products has been stopped and reliance on national production, including tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, corn, garlic, lhana, table eggs and chicken, in addition to fish."
The Ministry of Agriculture said that the amount produced from the paddy crop (amber rice) meets 60 percent of the local need, indicating that this achievement has not been achieved for decades.
