The Chinese embassy in Baghdad announced, on Friday, that employees of two Chinese state-owned companies in Iraq have been prevented from returning to China for a period of two months, against the background of the return of 14 co-workers to their countries infected with the Coronavirus .
And China has repeatedly suspended flights to companies after the discovery of infections among its passengers, but the decision to prevent Chinese citizens working in state-owned companies abroad is unprecedented, says the "Associated Press."
The Chinese embassy said on its social media account that the injured employees who returned in April worked for the China Power Construction Corp. in Rumaila and the Chinese Machine Engineering Company in Basra.
The embassy stated, "Beijing has suspended issuing health laws for other employees in these projects for a period of two months, which prevents them from boarding the planes returning to China," explaining that the failure to discover the virus before the employees boarded two flights of Iraqi airlines "caused a great risk of importing the epidemic." , Without indicating that the infection was transmitted to people in China by the returning workers.
The ruling Communist Party has lifted most of the restrictions imposed on travel and business inside China since announcing control of the virus last March, while gradually easing restrictions imposed on travel to and outside the country.
Health codes, which are carried on smartphones, are being used in China to track whether individuals have been infected or visited high-risk areas.
"Once the suspension is lifted, workers in Iraq will be required to undergo virus tests within 48 hours of boarding a plane," the embassy said.
The Chinese Aviation Regulatory Authority said, on Friday, that Iraqi Airways flights from Baghdad to Guangzhou will be suspended for two weeks due to the accident.
The Aviation Regulatory Authority also announced the suspension of flights by Air France, Rwandan Airlines and American Airlines for a period of two weeks after the discovery of injuries among the passengers of their flights.
