    {Economic: Al Furat News} The head of the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee, Ahmed Salim Al-Kinani, stressed the need to invest gas fields in Iraq to supplement domestic consumption and reduce foreign imports.

    Al-Kinani said in a statement that the Euphrates News Agency received a copy of, that "the issue of developing gas fields has been on the table for years, so Iraq needs to conclude contracts with major companies in order to be able to extract these huge quantities, which unfortunately most of them are wasted."
    He added, "This continued importation of gas from abroad should reduce and reduce the contracts concluded in the event of extracting quantities that Iraq can benefit from and can meet the possible need for the country's consumption." 
    The Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced plans to stop burning gas associated with crude oil and to invest it completely in the next three years.
    Economists estimate that Iraq will lose millions of dollars a day due to the associated gas combustion.
