The Ministry of Justice announced, today, Tuesday, the imminent return of real estate in the name of Iraq in Switzerland, while noting that a lawsuit will be launched in Jordan to return the seized funds.
The Director General of the Ministry's Legal Department, Hanan Munther Nassif, told the official news agency, "The ministry participated in discussing the amendment of the Integrity Commission law, in the presence of representatives from the Commission, the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Judicial Council and the Parliamentary Legal and Integrity Committee."
She added, "The amendment of the Integrity Commission law focuses on the recovery department to give it a broader authority, including filing external cases that we focused on and appointing lawyers because the current law does not allow this."
She pointed out that "the focus was on having more powers and giving them the power, in addition to freezing the funds through judicial decisions."
And she added, "The Ministry of Justice will take legal measures and file lawsuits to recover the looted funds," noting that "the dealings will be like any party that files a lawsuit."
And she pointed out that "lawsuits have now been initiated in Jordan, because it is the country that has the most seized funds that are required to be returned to Iraq, and they are pending before the courts."
And she indicated that "the recovery of the smuggled funds is not only cash, but there are real estate and jewelry located in boxes deposited in Switzerland and we are working to return them from the Swiss side," stressing that "there are real estate in the name of Iraq that will be transferred to the government of Iraq from Switzerland," pointing out that "the coming period You will see a lot of work in this regard."
