During October, the price of construction materials in Iraq increased, affected by the exchange of the dollar
Shafaq News/ The Ministry of Planning announced, on Wednesday, a rise in the prices of construction materials during the month of October, affected by the rise in the dollar exchange rate.
The Central Statistical Organization of the Ministry said in a report seen by Shafak News Agency that "as a result of the rise in the dollar exchange rate in the local markets, this in turn led to an increase in the prices of local and imported construction materials in the private sector at varying rates at the level of all governorates except for the Kurdistan Region," noting that "64 building materials that were registered in the local markets for the month of last October were followed up and recorded and compared to the prices of the month of November (2020), in which the price of the dollar rose."
Iraq had decided to reduce the value of the dinar in November 2020 by about 20% and fix it at the exchange rate of 145,000 dinars per 100 US dollars, with the aim of financing additional liquidity to overcome the repercussions of the Corona virus.
The report added that "the most important indicators for the most widely used and influential materials in the market were for three materials, which included bricks, cement and iron."
He pointed out that "the average price of ordinary bricks for the month of October last year amounted to 173 thousand dinars per 1,000 bricks, recording an increase of 24% over the average price of the month of November, which amounted to 140 thousand dinars per 1,000 bricks, while the price of the republican bricks for the month of October reached 188. One thousand dinars per 1,000 bricks, recording an increase of 17% over the average price for the month of November, which amounted to 161 thousand dinars per 1,000 bricks.
He explained that "the average price of ordinary cement for the month of October last year amounted to 103 thousand dinars per ton, recording an increase of 14% over the average price of the month of November at a price of 90 thousand dinars per ton, while the average price of resistant cement for the month of October reached 119 thousand dinars per ton, recorded An increase of 6% from the average price for the month of November, which was at 112 thousand dinars per ton, while the price of white cement for the month of October reached 207 thousand dinars per ton, recording an increase of 11% over the average price for the month of November, in which the price amounted to 186 thousand dinars ".
And he indicated that the prices of iron "bricks" of foreign origin for the month of October amounted to one million and 279 thousand dinars per ton, recording an increase of 64% over the average price of the month of November at a price of 779 thousand dinars per ton, while the average price of iron "shelmans" for the month of October 21 A thousand dinars per meter, recording an increase of 40% over the average price in November, which amounted to 15 thousand dinars per meter.
He pointed out that "the average price of thermiston bricks last October amounted to two million and 98 thousand dinars, recording an increase of 13% over the month of November, in which the average price amounted to one million and 852 thousand dinars."
