    Today, Thursday, Minister of Industry and Minerals Manal Aziz Al-Khabbaz chaired the first meeting of the Supreme Steering Committee in charge of supervising the establishment of the Iraqi-Jordanian joint economic city.
    At the beginning of the meeting, the minister stressed, according to a statement received by Al-Nour News, a copy of, “the importance of the joint economic city as it receives the attention and focus of the State of the Iraqi Prime Minister and the King of Jordan for its peculiarity as it represents the first Arab interaction in its correct form and an initiative of joint industrial, commercial, economic and professional cooperation that benefits both In addition, it represents a modern experience, and it is necessary to work on making it a success through supervision and follow-up on it by higher authorities of the relevant ministries.”
    He pointed out that this meeting was a preparatory consultation to clarify the tasks of the committee in logistical support, supervision and follow-up to all reports submitted by the Technical Steering Committee and the concerned parties, which represent the Industrial Estates Authority and the Iraqi Jordanian Company for Industry, recording observations, diagnosing deficiencies and how to address them with the Jordanian side and all other matters until the completion of the establishment of the city.”
    The statement stated, "During the meeting, a comprehensive presentation was made by the scientific advisor to the ministry on the procedures and steps taken regarding the city, the formed committees and the records signed by the Iraqi and Jordanian sides, and a statement of the objectives of establishing the city, foremost of which is providing job opportunities for young people from both countries, introducing hard currency to the country and encouraging investors And Iraqi, Arab and foreign businessmen to work in the city, as it will be an integrated city that contains huge infrastructure, facilities and vital institutions.”
    He continued, "The confirmed observations regarding the feasibility study for the city, prepared by (USAID) and submitted by the Jordanian side, were discussed. The meeting also included a proposal by members of the committee and deliberations on some paragraphs and notes related to the project."
    And the Minister of Industry and Minerals directed, “to prepare an integrated report that includes all the priorities, decisions and minutes of meetings related to the city, and distribute them to the members of the committee to express an opinion on them, and to hold periodic meetings of the committee and conduct meetings with the Supreme Steering Committee on the Jordanian side to reach common visions and decisions about the project.”
    The meeting was attended by members of the committee, the scientific advisor to the ministry, Ammar Abdullah Al-Janabi, representatives from the ministries of defense, oil, finance, planning and trade, and a number of officials in the ministry.
