(Jordan) allocated an area of (2000) acres in principle expandable and the same area of the Iraqi side for the purposes of the establishment of the first phase of the industrial zone joint.
He said that the industrial zone, which was established last period, will be established on the border between the two sides equally, each side about (2000) acres, will be a single area integrated to serve the economies of the two countries.
He expected the Iraqi side to complete its procedures regarding the determination of the land area during the current week to be the first stage of the establishment of the industrial zone, while the process of drawing up the plans and the submission of the necessary bids, will be in the next stages.
He described the commercial movement between Iraq and Jordan as active, pointing out that Iraqi trucks entered Jordan and this will facilitate the gradual activity of commercial activity between the two sides and encourage Jordanian drivers to enter Iraq.
A member of the Mafraq Chamber of Commerce Jawdat Shdeifat pointed out that the establishment of a joint industrial city between Jordan and Iraq is very important in order to promote trade exchange and establish joint projects between the two countries.
The joint industrial zone will enjoy advantages and incentives along the lines of the free zone between Jordan and Syria in order to attract investors from around the world to set up their projects. .
Taribil is the only crossing linking the flow of commercial goods between Jordan and Iraq and closed in 2015 due to the security situation in that period. It was reopened before the movement of goods, passengers and trucks more than a year ago.
