The head of the Arab-Australian Center for Strategic Studies, Ahmed al-Yasiri, said today, Monday, that Iran is trying to calm Iraq to prevent the crises from affecting the Vienna talks, while considering that Muqtada al-Sadr's proposal for the majority project is to remove al-Maliki from the political scene.
Al-Yasiri said in a statement, "Iranian interests are represented by the unity of the Shiite political rank, and therefore Iran is trying to calm down in Iraq to prevent the crises from affecting the Vienna talks."
He added that "the Shiite dispute is over the monopoly of representation in governments, and Mr. Al-Sadr proposed the majority to remove al-Maliki from the political scene."
Al-Yasiri indicated that "Al-Sadr adheres to the majority to achieve Shiite representation in the government," noting that "there are parties that adopt a discourse of rapprochement to search for positions and gains."

He pointed out that "the Sadrist movement seeks Shiite stability to reflect on the state."
