Today, Thursday, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, stressed the need to address problems in soft areas and pursue terrorist cells.
Abdullah’s media office stated, in a statement received by Mawazine News, that “the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, received in his official office in Baghdad today, Thursday, June 23, 2022, a high-ranking military delegation from the Kurdistan Region, which included Lieutenant-General Issa Ozer, Chief of Staff. The Peshmerga forces with a number of military commanders and senior officers in the region, in the presence of Lieutenant-General Hamid Abdul-Maqsoud Lafta, Chief of Staff of the Joint Operations Command, and a number of other staff officers of the Border Guard Forces Command. .
He added that "there was talk about supporting the federal security units present in the region represented by the border forces command with other departments of the Ministry of the Interior in the federal government, and the necessity of raising the level of cooperation and coordination between the Peshmerga and the federal forces was emphasized and the implementation of joint operations to cleanse soft areas and pursue terrorists and sleeper cells, Completing the logistical procedures and requirements for the formation of the 20th Brigade and working on its deployment as quickly as possible.
