Convictions from Shiite factions about targeting Kurdistan fields, calling for the attackers to be held accountable as "saboteurs"
Shafaq News/ The Secretary-General of the Imam Ali Brigades, Shibl al-Zaidi, considered, on Saturday, targeting the oil and gas fields in the Kurdistan Region an act of sabotage targeting the economic structure of Iraq.
Al-Zaidi said in a tweet, seen by Shafak News Agency, that "the attack on the oil fields and companies contracting with the central government and operating in Iraq is a sabotage act targeting the country's economic structure, and gives an image that the country is an environment that expels investment and investors."
He continued, "Therefore, it should not go unnoticed and be satisfied with condemnation and denunciation, but rather follow up and hold those involved as spoilers of public money accountable."
In turn, the "Coordination Committee for the Iraqi Resistance", which includes a number of armed factions, said that "in the midst of the confusing challenges of the Iraqi scene, and the security threats that surround our beloved people, which require us to be very careful and a high sense of responsibility, we warn against attempts to confuse the security situation and confuse the cards." Those who want bad things in our country at this particular time.”
She added, "We believe that the targeting of some companies in Sulaymaniyah is an act of sabotage behind which external parties are hostile to our proud people, with the aim of undermining the efforts made to get out of the country's current crisis."
And earlier today, Saturday, "Hezbollah Brigades" in Iraq accused groups linked to the Turkish intelligence of being behind the targeting of oil and gas fields in the Kurdistan Region.
Jaafar al-Husseini, a spokesman for the brigades, said, "According to the information of the intelligence and security effort, rogue groups that live in Tu Khurmatu and are affiliated with the Turkish intelligence are the ones who bombard the fields of Kurdistan."
The spokesman called on the "Popular Mobilization to pursue those involved and hand them over to justice so that they may receive their just punishment."
The General Directorate of Counter-Terrorism Forces - CTG had reported earlier today that the Kormore gas field was bombed by at least 6 missiles during the three attacks it was exposed to during the past few days.
A security source had reported that security forces affiliated with the federal government and the Popular Mobilization Forces carried out raids and search operations in the villages overlooking the "Qadir Karam" district in Sulaymaniyah governorate, against the backdrop of missile attacks on a gas field.
Yesterday, Friday, the "Kormore" gas field in the Sulaymaniyah governorate was hit by a missile strike, the second of its kind within days.
On Thursday, Dana Gas announced that the first missile attack, which targeted Kormore field on Wednesday, did not cause production disruption.
