Shafaq News / The new Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, revealed on Friday the development of three strategic plans to advance the reality of electricity (short - medium - long) while he sent a message to the Iraqis, in which he called on them to rationalize consumption and commit to paying energy subscription fees .
Fadel said, in an interview with Shafaq News Agency, that "the electricity needs great governmental support and at the level of all sectors, from ministers, representatives, political blocs and even the citizen," adding: "We need it in order to advance the issue of electricity in the country and solve its problem."
He added that "the citizen has the right to ask questions about the status of electricity and say that from 2003 until now the status of electricity has not changed, and are there really that there are external parties preventing the development of electricity in the country."
Fadel continued by saying: We answer this eternal question, in practice, when we were in the south, we developed comprehensive plans to advance the electricity situation in the southern regions by developing solutions to solve bottlenecks and raise the level of production and joint plans that started from the highest level until we reached the citizen's home.
And the Minister of Electricity added: "After all this, we obtained an important result, for example, in the province of Basra, we were able to reach a level of supply of up to 21 hours a day with the highest average temperature, and in sum, the issue is not political or international that impedes the arrival of electricity to the country, but rather production, planning, financing and implementation It is true and common to all parties.
Fadel pointed out that it is not possible to "treat electricity at the time he took over the ministry within two or three days, but there are stages and plans that will be worked on, and they are of three types: short-term plans in which we will focus on them during the first three months of our assumption of work, and the basis of which is available energy." Currently we have it, as we will use it, organize it and distribute it properly to all regions.”
He pointed out that there are medium-term plans that will last for a full year until next summer. He said, "We have developed a complete vision for them, which is the preparation of important projects, and we have started with them in some governorates, and there are a few basic plans in the ministry that we will revise and add to them in order to complete the work in them."
The minister pointed out that there is a "long-term plan, which is the strategy until 2030. This type of plan needs to unite all government efforts, and it aims at complete stability of the electrical system, and the dates of this type of plans are partly related to us as a ministry and the other part is related to the government, representatives and the general budget of the country." ".
The new Minister of Electricity stressed the need to take care of these plans, because it is not possible to start implementing a plan for the summer, for example, and start it in the fifth month, but it must be started in the first month of any year, even when we reach the summer, the plan may be well prepared, Therefore, we must focus on approving the budget at its legally specified timing.”
Fadel said, "The fairness of electric power distribution will be guaranteed between the governorates during the coming period, and therefore our plan will target all governorates at the same time for the purpose of improving their electricity situation."
And he stated, "After the approval of the Ministry's Law in 2017, we had the problem of profit and loss in these companies. There are electricity distribution companies that lose 3-4 billion Iraqi dinars per month due to abuses on the electrical network. Therefore, there is a plan that we will implement during the coming period to strengthen the revenue collection, This plan is based on motivating the citizen to pay the electricity collection fees, in order to preserve the electrical network and the permanence of its work.”
The minister urged the citizen to "rationalize energy consumption, which means turning off appliances outside of need. The ministry, no matter how much it implements gigantic projects for electrical energy without taking into account energy conservation, the work will go to waste, as the ministry needs (aid from the citizen) to maintain the electric current."
With regard to preserving the prestige of the Ministry of Electricity’s employees, from the continuous attacks on them in the street, especially the collection employees in the Ministry, the Minister of Electricity confirmed communication in this regard with the Ministers of Interior and Defense, emphasizing “the need to support the Ministry’s cadres in security from the attacks, as well as supporting the suspended electrical projects due to It fell on agricultural lands belonging to the state and citizens objected to it on the pretext that these lands are under their authority,” stressing that “the ministry is serious about activating the legal aspect this time and restoring the prestige of the state at all levels.”
At the conclusion of his speech, the Minister of Electricity sent a message to the citizen by saying: "You are a part and an essential partner with us... Do not think that we are a burden on you, but we will be one hand with you, and we will work to fix the holidays very quickly, and in return you have to be a fundamental participant with us and committed to paying the Electric bill.
