    Baghdad/Obelisk:
    Jawad Al-Hindawi
It is not uncommon for Iraq, state and people, to complain about the era of dictatorship and its scourge, but for Iraq’s complaint to continue, accompanied by severe, deep suffering that tyrannizes a living, the basic necessities of life and tyrannizes morals, dignity and sovereignty, in an era and Iraq is described as democratic, and with liberation from dictatorship, this matter becomes “uncommon”!
Everything that is unfamiliar calls for pause and questioning, and calls for more than one study and an attempt to find out the reasons and propose solutions, as the “unfamiliar matter” turns into a political and social phenomenon that threatens society and the state with extinction.
After Iraq's liberation from dictatorship in 2003, Iraq entered the era of "occupation and chaos", and it seems that it (i.e. Iraq) was then, politically and socially, ready for both, that is, for occupation and chaos, and both were the "price of getting rid" of dictatorship.
The American forces could have occupied Iraq, after its liberation of Kuwait on 26/2/1991, but they did not do so.
Why ? For two reasons, one tactical and the other strategic.
The first reason is the desire of the Arab neighborhood to maintain Saddam’s regime while it is besieged and weak, and the fear of this neighborhood of the existence of a regime in Iraq loyal to Iran. The second strategic reason is the lack of awareness of the American administration and its insufficient knowledge of the structure, moods and goals of the Iraqi opposition, which is spread and distributed among Britain, Iran, Syria and some European countries. A decade was enough for the US administration to complete its vision and tools to begin the occupation of Iraq in 2003. During the ten years following the liberation of Kuwait (in 1991), the US administration concluded, by following the course of the former regime in Iraq, and through its dealings with the Iraqi opposition, two facts:
The second fact is the realization and confirmation of the American administration of the size of the repressed differences and divisions that are rooted in the body and mind of the Iraqi opposition, differences and divisions of a national nature (Arabs, Kurds) and of a sectarian nature (Sunni Shiites), and others of a utilitarian and interest nature at the level of individuals Families, clans, etc... The American and British administration and other Western circles coexisted with the Iraqi opposition while it was out of power, so I concluded that what unites them is only one goal, which is the removal and overthrow of the previous regime and access to power, to power, and what separates them is more than Disagreement and interests, and that this disagreement, rivalry, and division will increase and exacerbate when they gather at the table of power, and external agendas will activate their role so that yesterday’s opposition continues, and today’s authority is interested in sharing the benefits and gains of power without caring about building the state and society.
After America and its allies realized these facts, in 2003 they occupied Iraq, falsely raising the slogans of democracy, wishing and building Iraq, and supporting them in misleading these slogans, the experience of the opposition in its wrongful exercise of power for nearly two decades.
What Iraq, the state and the people are experiencing, is a testament to what the US administration has sought, and the strategic mistakes that the opposition of yesterday and the authority of today have committed towards Iraq, the state and the people.
Among the major mistakes is sacrificing the state for the sake of power, sacrificing the state for the sake of nationalism, sacrificing the state for the sake of the sect, sacrificing the state for the sake of the clan, and sacrificing the state for the sake of the family or for the sake of the person. Freedoms and human rights.
The government of Mr. Al-Sudani is facing a favorable opportunity to correct the course of the political process, and we explained in a previous article entitled (The government of Mr. Al-Sudani: chances of success are more than chances of failure, on 10/29/2022), why the opportunity is favorable, and why the chances of success are more than the chances of failure. And I believe that before starting the steps to reform the political process and the political system, it is necessary to start with strengthening the state’s entity, because the state is the vessel of the political process, and the steps for strengthening the state’s entity begin with fighting corruption and putting the right man in the right place and seeking the help of statesmen and not power amateurs, and striving to Achieving social justice, through fair legislation, equal opportunities for citizens, and a fair distribution of wealth.
