    On Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani commented on the recent rise in dollar prices in the Iraqi local markets.

    "There is a clear increase in the exchange rates of the dollar," Al-Sudani said in a press conference followed by "NAS" (December 19, 2022), noting that "transfers to fake companies were rejected and there are exaggerated prices in the currency sale window."  
      
    He added, "The price inflation operations in the currency sale window aim to remove the dollar from the country," noting that "the government was and still is monitoring the central bank's policy to ensure market stability."  
      
    He continued, "We assure everyone that the government has control over food prices and secures the items of the ration card."  
      
    He pointed out that "the central bank has taken measures related to diversifying foreign transfers to cover imports."  
      
    He said, "The financial situation is at its best, and the central bank's reserves have risen to $96 billion."
