Deputy Chairman of the Strategic Planning and Government Program Monitoring Committee, Representative Muhammad Al-Baldawi, revealed on Thursday that there is a political intention to approve the 2023 budget for the next 3 years, confirming the completion of its provisions in the Council of Ministers.
Al-Baldawi said in a press statement, "The draft budget law for the current year has reached its final stages and its chapters have been completed with the government," noting that "the draft law will be on the cabinet table next week for the purpose of voting and then sending it to Parliament."
He added, "It is expected that the total amount of the budget will be 220 trillion, and that the percentage of the operational budget will range between 62 to 64%, and the rest will go to the investment budget," while he expected that "the budget will be for a period of three years in order to overcome the problem of spending and annual voting."
Al-Baldawi explained that "meetings and dialogues between the region and Baghdad to solve the problem," stressing that "the item for the region for the current year is no different from the items of the 2021 budget."
