The Ministry of Water Resources clarified, regarding the reports that Turkey opened its dams due to the earthquakes.
The ministry said in a statement, "Many media outlets and social media circulated news that neighboring Turkey opened its dams, following the earthquakes that occurred in Turkey and Syria, as a precautionary measure by them."
She added that she is following this news seriously, and the ministry has not yet indicated any noticeable increase in the main measuring stations on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, indicating that at a time when we confirm that the condition of our dams and reservoirs is very reassuring, we also confirm that we have sufficient storage spaces to receive any quantities of water that may come in. From Turkey and we can store it safely.
