Advisor to the Prime Minister for Investment Affairs, Muhammad Al-Najjar, today, Sunday, identified the most important goals of the Iraqi delegation's visit to Washington, while referring to discussions to activate 7 inactive items of the strategic agreement between the two countries.
Al-Najjar said in a televised interview, "Our visit to Washington aims to lay new foundations for cooperation with the United States," noting that "one part of the strategic agreement between Iraq and the United States is activated, which is the security, intelligence and military part."
He added, "The situation in Iraq has changed, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani sought to activate most parts of the agreement in order for it to be a new starting point for cooperation between the two countries."
He continued, "Since the entry of ISIS and the departure of terrorism from Iraq, most of the talk and cooperation poured into the security and military aspects, but now Iraq has the ability to think in a different way after all the problems of terrorism have ended," stressing the necessity of "continuing stability in Iraq, as its economy is capable of Growth and not be dependent on energy, but rather building large and very important economic tributaries.
And he indicated that "the Iraqi delegation, which is currently visiting Washington, is working on activating the inactive seven items of the strategic agreement, including two of my responsibility, which are the economic item and the education item."
He continued, "The agreement also includes" the cultural and commercial clauses, and each clause has a team that is discussing it, "explaining that the economic clause relates to many aspects of cooperation with the American side."
He stressed that "the trade item is related to the introduction of modern technology, as the United States has enormous capabilities in the field of technology through the aircraft industry, the agricultural field, and food security, and all of this is economic opportunities for American companies and for the development of our companies."
He stressed that "what we are negotiating now is how to find a ground for the entry of American companies into Iraq and their cooperation with our companies, whether public or private, and benefit from experience in order to be managed and developed," explaining that "the obstacles that prevented the entry of these companies flow into two main aspects: the first is the security situation The previously unstable that we have overcome now, and the other side is the thought of law between the two countries, one of which differs from the other.
