Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani confirmed today, Friday, that the Zubair Bridge project, which is being implemented with funding from the ministry, will link the center of Basra with the oil and industrial areas.
The media office of the Ministry of Oil stated in a statement, of which Mawazine News received a copy, that "Abdul-Ghani inspected the new Zubair Bridge project located on the Shatt al-Arab in Basra Governorate, and stressed that" the project is one of the vital projects in the province, and it will contribute to resolving traffic jams, and connects the city center with the district Zubair and the industrial and oil zones," pointing to "the contribution of the Ministry of Oil to finance the project from the Social Benefit Fund and oil companies, especially the South Gas Company, and the project will be implemented by the state-run Ashur Company."
And the Minister of Oil stressed, according to the statement, the need to “accelerate the completion of the project during the next few period due to its importance in addressing traffic jams and achieving a high flow of vehicle movement,” noting that “the project is one of the complex projects, because it includes a navigational hole, and systems have been manufactured and equipped.” The bridge is of European origin, due to the Ministry's keenness on the quality of the project.
In turn, the Director General of South Gas, Hamza Abdel-Baqi, stated that "the length of the bridge is 224 meters, and the visit of the Minister of Oil to the project site is evidence of the keenness of the leadership of the oil sector to complete it on the scheduled dates and according to the planned specifications, and to overcome the health, technical and other challenges," stressing "the keenness of the Gas Company South will open soon.
