Electricity: We will complete the summer preparations within two weeks by producing 24,000 megawatts

Baghdad / Firas Adnan
The Ministry of Electricity confirmed the completion of all preparations for the rehabilitation of the stations within two weeks and no later than the beginning of next month, affirming its intention to reach stable production to 24 thousand megawatts, and indicated great efforts to address the file of abuses on the national network, including slums, indicating that Iraq depends on gas. The Iranian production of 7 thousand megawatts, and there is an agreement between the two countries to ensure the flow of supplies during the summer.
"We started our quick and emergency plan for the summer early, with government sponsorship, field tours, intensive meetings, and a permanent operations room," said ministry spokesman Ahmed Moussa.
Moussa added, "The ministry stood on the threshold of several stages of completion, which is the completion of periodic maintenance of production units for all stations."
And he pointed out, “Setting a time limit that is the first of next month, in which all stations will be ready to operate with their capacity.”
Moussa said, "All the powers have been granted to the general managers, with the provision of spare parts and financial allocations for maintenance operations."
He stressed, "The transport sector was suffering from a number of bottlenecks, with governorates devoid of availability and capacity, which we have succeeded in addressing through the efforts of technical and engineering staffs."
Moussa talked about “establishing transmission lines with converting some of them into common lines in order to grant higher discharge energies.”
And he continues, “A large number of works took place in the distribution sector through the development of feeders, in coordination with the Municipality of Baghdad, by allocating plots of land, rehabilitating distribution networks, and installing fixed and mobile stations.”
Mousa noted that "all preparations have reached their final stages until we reach the production of 24,000 megawatts early next month."
He pointed out, "This number constitutes the rate of pregnancy stability, and it is unacceptable to go down below it, and we may reach higher than it, and we made a promise to the government, and these rates will achieve good hours."
Moussa stated, "Talking the abuses also includes slums and dividing agricultural lands and converting them into residential ones, and we are working to take measures that allow the collection of electricity fees from everyone."
He continued, "These areas were causing random and irregular loads on the electrical network, as well as harming the adjacent areas that had original and regular networks."
Moussa emphasized, “Installing new distribution networks, erecting poles, removing bottlenecks, increasing the number of transformers, and creating feeders in order to meet the requirements of those areas.”
He added, "Most of the nutrients, as a result of the overload loads, were exposed to falling through the protection devices, but we dealt with this by doubling the carrying capacity to accommodate the increase."
Moussa added, "The stability of the loads at 24,000 megawatts provides very good operating hours during the summer," explaining that "what we have achieved and what we want to achieve will provide an increase of 3,500 megawatts."
He pointed out, "This increase was also accompanied by work to address bottlenecks in transmission and distribution lines and increase transformer capacities."
Moussa noted, "The Cabinet authorized the Ministry of Electricity, after a study it submitted, to contract with consulting companies for the smart transformation of the electric grid."
He stated, "This conversion means installing smart meters in electrical networks for electronic collection."
Musa said, "The ministry had applied this experiment and electronic collection in two regions, namely Basmaya and the University district, in addition to a third experiment in Karbala, which is about to include five provinces, and then circulated to the rest of the regions."
And he talked about “a permanent operations room with the Ministry of Oil, and even field trips that resulted in the operation of the Crutch station, which operates for the first time on free national gas.”
And he added, "A previous visit to the Halfaya field resulted in supplying the Maysan investment and gas station with about 160 to 180 cubic meters to operate 1,400 megawatts, which is from the national gas."
Moussa added, "Iraq operates 7,500 megawatts of the supplied gas, and we have agreed with the Iranian side, within a governmental framework, an agreement that includes supplying the stations in sufficient quantities, and the Iranians have expressed their approval of this agreement."
And Musa went on, that “the ministry, as far as it is concerned, has paid all previous debts for the supplied gas, and it is with the credit fund in the Iraqi Trade Bank, and the issue of its arrival to the Iranian side is not our specialty.”
For his part, the head of the Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee, Muhammad Nuri al-Abd Rabbo, stated that “the committee hosted a few days ago the Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, and the Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani.”
Al-Abd Rabbo added, “The aim of the meeting is joint work, which requires the necessity of cooperation among all in order to reach the specific goals and contribute to the energy sectors, to come up with a result that meets the requirements of the country and the possibility of supplying the quantities of fuel that the Ministry of Electricity needs by the Ministry of Oil.”
He pointed out, "The committee listened to an explanation about the stopped stations and the need to provide them with fuel, in addition to the ministry's plan to add other stations."
Al-Abd Rabbo drew attention to the formation of a joint committee between the ministries of electricity and oil, provided that it submits its report weekly to discuss matters between the two ministries and submit its recommendations.
He stressed, “The Ministry of Oil has pledged to provide sufficient quantities of fuel to the Ministry of Electricity, with projects in the south to invest in gas, as well as the opening of a gas production plant during the current year to contribute to the processing of power stations.”
Al-Abd Rabbo went on to "activate the investment contract with Total to invest in fuel, and coordinate between the two ministries to supply stations in order to generate electric power."
It is noteworthy that electricity is one of the important files, as processing hours during the summer season witness a decline every year, but government promises speak of changes that the citizen will touch soon.
