The desert of Samawah and Anbar... hidden investment treasures

Experts in economics and investment called for transforming the desert of Samawah and Anbar into tourist attractions to increase the state's resources, while they indicated that the desert of the two provinces and its extensions across several provinces contain dozens of archaeological, tourist and historical sites and sites that, if properly invested, can revive the economy and commercial life in the cities extending therein.
And the economist, Nabil Jaafar Al-Marsoumi, stated in an interview with Al-Sabah: “More than 52% of the population of Samawah governorate lives below the poverty line.” Rich in natural economic resources, oil and mineral resources, as well as limestone, which is used in the manufacture of ceramics and large mineral materials.
He pointed out, “There are investment opportunities for the agricultural sector and animal husbandry in Samawah due to the large area and the presence of groundwater, and that this desert can be a tourist resort to attract tourists from outside Iraq, as it contains (Lake Sawa), which can be one of the most prominent recreational areas in Iraq and it can achieve a lot of financial resources.” He added, “We can also establish a (seed bank), especially since there are unique wild medicinal plants in Samawah (tanhala, sorrel, and ananda), some of which are used in the treatment of cancer and skin burns, as well as as a treatment for joints,” stressing That "there will be additional resources from which the province and Iraq will benefit alike."
Al-Marsoumi explained, “In the Samawah desert there are many resources and archaeological sites that can be benefited from if they are exploited in a good way. Security and political stability in light of the spread of patrols to protect it. Likewise, the Anbar desert is rich in economic resources, gas and oil, and it has many tourist sites that can be an addition to oil resources.
For his part, the expert in investment affairs, the jurist Abd al-Latif Hammad al-Halbousi, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “Iraq throughout the ages has been the focus of attention of the aspirants, colonizers and expatriates for the purpose of investing in its geographical position and the opportunities available in it beyond imagination, and after the change that took place in the country And the events that accompanied it, among the variables and what the Iraqi citizen aspires to in order to keep pace with regional and foreign countries. He added, "From the foregoing, and in order to achieve ambition, there is a huge amount of diversified investment opportunities available in Iraq in the agriculture, tourism, minerals, housing and industry sectors."
