    Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Planning held its ninth meeting to discuss a draft amendment to its Law No. (19) for the year 2009, headed by the Director General of the Department of Human Development, Maha Abdul Karim Al-Rawi.
    A statement by the ministry, received by Earth News, stated that “the meeting discussed the proposed amendments to the objectives of the ministry, which it seeks to achieve through preparing economic, social, service development studies and research, and all other sectors, and encouraging studies on human and spatial development at the national and local levels, in accordance with comprehensive national strategies and policies.” .
    He added, “He also discussed preparing medium and long-term national development plans in coordination with ministries, agencies not associated with a ministry, governorates that are not organized in a region, the mixed and private sectors, and civil society organizations. And the statement stated, “One of the goals is also to develop future perceptions of the Iraqi reality in all fields and draw up special programs for that by adopting the techniques of future studies and known statistical estimation methods and supporting local development and the efforts of the governorates in the field of development in a way that qualifies them to assume responsibility for planning and implementing their projects of a local nature efficiently.” High.
    He referred to “supporting rural development in a way that secures the integration of the Iraqi countryside into the comprehensive national development process and raising the economic and social level in it, while carrying out field and office statistical operations related to the population, economic, social and sectoral census and developing them, and securing information and data and analyzing them to serve the process of planning, development and scientific research.”
    The meeting was attended by a number of general managers in the ministry and its affiliated formations, as well as a number of employees of the formations, concerned departments and relevant authorities.
