    [rtl]Baghdad-Iraq Today:

The Economist magazine published a report in which it said that the Iraqi authorities, prompted by the magazine's recent revelations about the theft of $2.5 billion in state funds, called on America, Britain and Interpol to help arrest and extradite suspects in the case on the soil of those countries. [/rtl]

[rtl]The magazine, in a report translated by Iraq Today, stated that there are four senior figures in the former Iraqi government during the era of Mustafa Al-Kazemi who are wanted in the case, and they are the former Finance Minister Ali Allawi, Raed Jouhi , the director of the former prime minister's office, the private secretary Ahmed Najati, and the advisor Mashreq Abbas who lives in Dubai, London and Washington.

     [/rtl]

[rtl]The magazine added that the responsibility for taking further action has been transferred to Western and Middle Eastern governments. [/rtl]
[rtl]And the Iraqi courts had previously confiscated property belonging to the former acting Minister of Finance, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar, who opened the investigation, and businessman Nour Zuhair was released on bail last November, and he also traveled abroad.[/rtl]
[rtl]The magazine that Al-Kazemi's allies say that what is stated is going on is a stalking operation by Al-Sudani to divert attention from the allies of the current government, who are also under suspicion of corruption cases.[/rtl]
[rtl]The magazine quoted close associates of Al-Kazemi as saying, "The leaders of the Shiite groups who support Al-Sudanese worked with Zuhair to raise funds."[/rtl]
[rtl]The magazine indicated that corruption has been a key element in Iraqi politics since the Americans overthrew Saddam Hussein in 2003, but the massive tax fraud that the magazine's report talked about shows Iraqis for the first time in detail how state coffers were broken into.[/rtl]
[rtl]And she continued, "Politicians from across the ethnic and sectarian spectrum have united to smuggle hundreds of billions of dollars in oil and tax revenues."[/rtl]
