    Economy News _ Baghdad
The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities stated that there will be government intervention to determine the prices of units within the 15 new residential cities, and while it revealed the allocation of plots of land within the project, to build university cities attached to it, it confirmed the adoption of strict criteria for choosing the investment companies implementing them.
On the sidelines of announcing the opening of bids for five new residential cities within Baghdad and the governorates of Karbala, Anbar, Nineveh and Babil, Minister Benkin Rikani said, in an interview with the official newspaper, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that the committees in charge of opening bids will take into account important criteria that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani focused on in The companies entrusted with the task of implementing these five cities, foremost of which is the financial solvency and the possession of advanced technology that shortens the time and effort to implement its projects.
He added that all companies that came with their bids must provide evidence of their financial solvency and technological capabilities that they possess, in order to avoid the delay that afflicts projects, from which thousands of projects suffered during the previous period, pointing out that the Ministry and the Authority, in cooperation with the concerned governorates, have defined a vision for the implementation of these projects. And I presented it to the investors to work on implementing the best cities with advanced methods.
Rikani indicated that the announced cities will be implemented according to specific specifications that take into account climate change, and will also adopt advanced implementation methods that are in harmony with the environmental reality the country is witnessing, noting that the costs of implementing these cities have not been accurately determined yet, but will exceed billions of dollars.
He stressed that Iraq, for the first time, will witness the implementation of cities in these areas, and they will be a starting point for other cities in all regions of the country, as new projects will be announced in the coming period that are commensurate with the country's needs.
Regarding the prices of housing units, the head of the National Investment Commission, Haidar Makiya, explained to the same newspaper that mechanisms will be adopted to achieve a balance in prices, and there will be percentages of these cities for the state, which in turn distributes them among the beneficiaries, revealing that there is a proposal to invest the funds of the retirement fund in these projects, which will enhance The role of the state is to distribute percentages of these pools among citizens in proportion to their financial capabilities.
In the same context, ministry spokesman Nabil Al-Saffar told the same newspaper that his ministry had approved a project to establish 15 new residential cities in Baghdad and the provinces a while ago to accommodate the large population increase, noting that these cities are served by all infrastructure, in addition to the construction of highways leading to them.
He revealed that his ministry has allocated plots of land to build university cities attached to them, although the capital is facing a problem with this matter, stressing that these cities are the first experience of the state, as it will intervene by setting the prices of its units, contrary to what was previously practiced in giving lands to the investor and building them at exorbitant prices. The price, pointing out that within five to six years there will be integrated residential cities.
Al-Saffar mentioned that his ministry opened bids this week for companies in order to start building five residential cities within this project, including the new Al-Jawahiri in Abu Ghraib in Baghdad, the banks of Karbala in Karbala Governorate, the new Fallujah in Anbar, Al-Janaen in Babil Governorate, and Al-Ghazlani in Nineveh Governorate, while the rest of the cities will be presented. Consecutively.
In the same context, he counted the new Sadr City, which will include 60,000 housing units in a modern style, as one of the promising projects that will contribute significantly to reducing the population density within the current Sadr City, warning that the state will sponsor the construction of some housing units for the city and the provision of services, while the rest will be transferred to investment.
And the reconstruction spokesman added that his ministry recently approved the structural design of the new Sadr City, and is working at the same time to prepare the rest of the designs by a specialized company, warning that the other phase of the project will determine the cost of the project to start implementing the infrastructure.
For his part, Bakhit al-Jubouri, a specialist in investment affairs, told the same newspaper that the need for housing is now touching four million housing units, and therefore Iraq needs a reconstruction revolution in this field, and that there is effective work to implement dozens of cities with international quality specifications that take into account climate changes, stressing The possibility of directing local investments to such projects whenever there is an appropriate environment supportive of investment activities.
As for the specialist in economic affairs, Amer Naji Saleh, he stated in the same regard that the private sector is able to implement these projects and others similar and with international specifications, which is what counts for him, indicating that what is required for the next stage is the concerted efforts of all efforts to develop the reality of executive performance and through the cooperation of the concerned departments. .
He pointed out that Iraq is facing a work revolution that needs a speedy response to all investment requirements that will address the combined economic problems and move the country to the stage of sustainable development.
