    Today, Friday, the Ministry of Interior counted the rates and types of cases of societal violence in the country, while recommending the necessity of reporting electronic blackmail gangs.
    Director of the Directorate of Family and Child Protection from Domestic Violence, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior’s Agency for Police Affairs, Major General Adnan Hamoud Salman, told the official agency: “The Directorate receives all complaints of domestic violence via hotline 139 in all governorates.”
    He added, "The rate of cases of husband assault on wife as part of the phenomenon of domestic violence in the country amounted to 57% of the total cases. As for the wife's assault on the husband, the rate reached 17%, the rate of parental assault on children reached 6%, and the rate of assault on the elderly, such as grandfathers and grandmothers." It reached 2%, and the remaining 18% varied between what we mentioned above, highs and lows, as well as brothers assaulting their brothers and sisters, or verbal violence.”
    He added, "The directorate has 16 departments for human protection distributed across all governorates, including two on the Karkh and Rusafa sides. They record a daily average of more than 90 calls and are sorted according to the type of violence.     Regarding women’s refusal to report after being exposed to electronic blackmail, Salman stressed, “It is necessary to report these crimes to National Security or the Family and Children Organization in order to arrest the criminals and delete the content that threatens citizens with the best advanced devices of the competent authorities and not to yield to blackmailers and to assist the security forces in arresting and referring them.” "to the judiciary to receive their just punishment."
