The Baghdad Municipality will complete the rehabilitation work of the Celebration Square during the next few days and hand it over to the Al-Mansour Municipality, at a time when it has launched a campaign to create and develop 100 parks within the capital’s municipalities to increase green spaces.
Media Director of the Parks Department in the Capital Secretariat, Marwan Hamed, told “Al-Sabah”: The Secretariat, in light of the Prime Minister’s directives to increase green spaces in all areas of Baghdad, directed the Parks Department to launch a campaign to develop and establish 100 gardens over a period of five years, in addition to planting five million seedlings. Resistant to weather fluctuations, and thus the capital, Baghdad, will witness a significant increase in the green spaces that it lacked recently, stressing at the same time that the department will continue with the work of constructing a park in Sector Nine in Sadr City and rehabilitating another in Sector Eight, in addition to its work to develop Abu Nawas Park.
Hamed stated that the department is preparing in the coming days to hand over the celebrations square to the Mansour Municipality after the completion of its qualification operations, noting that the works included planting the (theil) plant around the vicinity of the Unknown Soldier Square, the theater and the Mansour Cinema, in addition to planting large areas with seedlings resistant to weather fluctuations.
