Parliamentary communications: chaos in managing social media applications

The Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee called for the necessity of coordinating the responsible government agencies with companies specializing in social media applications, by approving the opening of branches in Iraq or contracting with them, confirming the existence of chaos in managing their work.
The head of the committee, Zahra Al-Bajari, told “Al-Sabah”: There must be coordination between the Ministry of Communications and the companies that manage social media applications during the coming period, because the country is heading towards the governorate council elections, and these applications are an effective element in political propaganda, rumors, etc., and thus the interaction from during the aforementioned period.
She added that the lack of coordination between these companies, the Ministry of Communications, and the Communications and Media Authority, created chaos in the management of these applications, noting that contracting with these companies will bring significant revenues to the state, by making these applications available to users in exchange for a financial cost.
Al-Bajari indicated that the committee is working to organize the work of these applications within the country, in coordination with the above authorities, noting that the (META) application, or (formerly (Facebook),) is a global application and has offices in most countries of the world, but Iraq lacks the presence of its own office, so Its use is characterized by chaos and lack of coordination, and there is a demand to open branches of every social networking application within the country, in order to use them optimally and achieve financial returns.
