    Baghdad today - Erbil
Oil expert Bahjat Ahmed announced today, Tuesday (October 7, 2023), that the Iraqi Ministry of Oil has extended the Jambur line and the Kirkuk power station.
Ahmed said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "This line is not related to the National Union or the Kurdistan Regional Government, and this line is within the North Gas Company and within the powers of the Federal Ministry of Oil."
He added, "This line between Kormor and Jambur is old and its establishment dates back to the era of Saddam Hussein, and the regional government used it to pump the substance "Condist" for the purpose of mixing this substance with the region's oil for the purpose of improving its quality."
He stated, “The Oil Ministry’s statements relate to the new line and are not related to the Kurdistan Regional Government, and there is a political issue behind it, and the Kurdistan Region does not produce enough gas for the purpose of using it in other regions of Iraq, and it needs gas for the purpose of internal use and achieving sufficiency.”
It is noteworthy that the Jambur pipeline transports crude oil from the Kirkuk fields to the Turkish port of Ceyhan on the Mediterranean coast. The black liquid began flowing through it for the first time in 1976, but the oil stopped flowing through it during the past few years, and its path has changed.
When ISIS took control of large areas in northern and western Iraq in the summer of 2014, forces affiliated with the Kurdistan region entered Kirkuk and took control of its oil fields.
Because the route of the line cuts through several cities, such as Baiji in Salah al-Din, Shura and Ain al-Jahsh in Nineveh, and then Dohuk before entering Turkey, the regional authorities changed its route and connected it to new pipelines passing through the Kurdistan region, and they took over extracting oil from the Kirkuk fields and exporting it to Turkey.
The oil fields in this governorate, namely “Afana”, “Bay Hassan”, “Baba Karkar”, “Safiya”, “Khormal” and “Jumbur”, produce about 450 thousand barrels per day.
On October 16, 2017, Iraqi forces expelled the “Peshmerga” and Kurdish factions from Kirkuk and regained the oil fields, except for the “Jumbur” fields.
