Specialists in political affairs have indicated that there are satellite channels whose goal is to spread rumors and disrupt political reality. The Prime Minister’s Advisor for Political Affairs, Fadi Al-Shammari, confirmed in a recent televised interview that the Prime Minister directed to fight rumors and respond to fabricated news, while other specialists indicated Many political and economic analysts are used to spreading rumours.
Political affairs analyst, Omar Al-Nasser, stated in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “the speech of the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Political Affairs regarding combating rumors is evidence of a clear weakness in this matter, and this requires that there be redoubled efforts by the Department of Combating Rumors in the Ministry of Interior.” The citizen should have a greater role in the policy of pre-emptive deterrence, as he can be one of the qualitative societal brakes on suppressing and stopping rumors. Law enforcement agencies alone should not bear this responsibility, as even in civilized countries, monitoring and empowerment teams are important and a great duty. States enjoy the highest degrees of rights and freedoms.”
He pointed out that "it is natural that there are hired mouths. Just as there is a gun for hire, there is a writer for hire, a political analyst for hire, and a journalist and media person for hire. In turn, the head of the Iraq Center for Strategic Studies, Dr. Ghazi Faisal, indicated in an interview with Al-Sabah that “it is normal for rumors, misleading information, or incomplete reports to be documented or without scientifically documented sources from official Iraqi government agencies to spread in any society.” Or the United Nations or organizations concerned with publishing statistics and documenting information on various issues.”
He noted that, "Unfortunately, developing countries remain silent regarding these rumours. Therefore, when any information is presented, whether at the economic, industrial, commercial, or political level, the relevant authorities must respond in a scientific manner and with supporting documents to refute these rumours. However, if this information is not Accurate and incorrect. The concerned authority in the ministries is supposed to respond, each within its jurisdiction, and to respond through scientific channels or through an official spokesman to refute these numbers, provided that this is done with documents supporting the denial.”
He added, "But if the news or conversations are true and not rumours, the Iraqi government is supposed to respect this information and make promises to public opinion, the people, and the concerned parties to take the necessary measures to address these issues, in a way that is consistent with the freedom of information transmission and also respects public opinion, especially on issues that concern the citizen."
