    Today, Thursday (November 23, 2023), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani expressed his confidence in the importance of the “Basra-Shalamcheh” railway line in reaching Central Asia.
    A statement from the Prime Minister's Office received by "Baghdad Today" stated that Al-Sudani "chaired, today, a special meeting on the Basra-Shalamcheh railway project for transporting travelers and visitors, for which the foundation stone was laid last September."
    The statement added that the meeting "discussed the measures taken to implement the project, and determined the nature of the administrative work related to it."
    Al-Sudani stressed, "The importance of this project as it will contribute to facilitating the procedures for transporting visitors during the visiting seasons that Iraq witnesses, in addition to its importance for travelers from Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, all the way to the countries of Central Asia, and its connection with the rest of the transportation routes."
    The Prime Minister instructed "to send direct invitations to the companies involved in implementing the project, and to resolve the issue of the environmental study, in addition to following up on the procedures for completing the acquisitions of the lands on which the project's path is located."
    Al-Sudani also directed "the necessity of adhering to the project implementation timings, and not delaying or delaying implementation, in order to complete this vital project that will serve citizens and visitors from Iraq and other countries."
