The Geologists Syndicate coordinates with the Ministry of Oil to employ graduates of geology departments in companies
oil production during the next year.
The head of the Iraqi Geologists Syndicate, Saad Obaid, told Al-Sabah: Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul-Ghani confirmed that foreign oil companies are obligated to employ local workers, and noted that the ministry is continuing its efforts to attract geologists.
To operate them during the next year.
He added that the union has coordination with the Ministry of Oil and is constantly following the ministry’s letter sent to the Prime Minister’s Office regarding submitting the names of geologists in order to employ them in oil formations.
Obaid pointed out that several visits were made, accompanied by a number of young graduates of colleges specializing in geology, to a number of officials, and the official letters of appointment were delivered.
Including the book of the Ministry of Oil.
He explained that the union is working on preparing a statistical information base for the numbers of unemployed geologists in order to approach the relevant authorities to employ them.
He pointed out that there are no companies in the private sector that attract and employ geologists, as there are no companies investing in the field of mining or water resources, so the focus is on the ministries concerned with their specialization, most notably oil, whether through its formations or foreign companies operating within licensing rounds in the country.
