Mawazine News - Baghdad,
a member of the State of Law coalition and candidate for the Baghdad Provincial Council, Nour Ali Al-Hasnawi, confirmed on Tuesday that the role of the provincial councils is complementary to the work of Parliament in terms of oversight and legislation.
Al-Hasnawi said in an interview with Mawazine News, “The return of the governorate councils is very important to provide services that meet the needs of citizens.”
She added, "There is interest from political forces in holding elections to monitor the work of the governor and government departments in the governorate."
She pointed out that "provincial council elections represent a constitutional necessity, especially after the formation of the government of Muhammad Shia al-Sudani and its ministerial platform."
Al-Hasnawi stated, “The provincial council elections will take place on the scheduled date next December.”
