    Yesterday, Wednesday, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani called for accelerating the implementation of strategic projects in the extraction, refinery, and gas sectors, stressing that the ministry seeks to reach self-sufficiency in fuel and stop imports.
    A statement from the ministry stated, “The Minister of Oil chaired the leadership meeting for operations, and during the meeting, a group of important topics and projects included on its agenda were discussed, and measures and recommendations were taken regarding them, in the presence of the ministry’s undersecretaries, and a number of officials in companies and departments of the ministry’s center, and Abdul Ghani praised “With the achievements achieved in the oil sector during the past year.”
    Abdul Ghani stressed, according to the statement, “the implementation of what was stated in the government program, and accelerating the implementation of strategic projects in the sectors of extraction, refinery, gas, distribution, export outlets, renewable energy, infrastructure, and others.”
    He expressed “the ambition that the new year will witness the implementation of many strategic projects, the achievement of achievements, and the formation of an important addition to the oil industry.”
    He added, "We must work to strengthen projects to sustain and increase oil production, and implement the requirements of the five-year plan to reach a production rate of (6) million barrels per day," pointing out, "Achieving a significant increase in production, and we plan to reach self-sufficiency and stop imports, and will witness... In the coming period, we will complete a number of promising projects that achieve our goals.”
    He continued, “We have succeeded in promoting associated gas investment projects, and the past period has witnessed an increase in the quantities of gas invested from oil fields, and this year will witness the addition of (200) mqmq from the fields invested within the work tasks of the Basra Gas Company, in addition to promising increases from the fields of two oil companies.” Maysan and Dhi Qar,” pointing out “work to enhance the strategic reserve of petroleum products, to support the electric power generation sector, and the local need, as well as work to re-export crude oil through the northern port, to enhance financial revenues to support the state treasury, and the ministry achieved in the year 2023 “An increase in financial revenues more than planned, and we hope to achieve more during the new year.”[/size]
