Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani discussed, this evening, Sunday, with the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Gamal Rashid, the overall general situation in the country, and the political, security and economic issues, while they stressed the need to unify efforts; In order to consolidate and sustain the achieved security and stability.
A statement from Al-Sudani’s office received by Mawazine News stated, “The Prime Minister reviewed the results of his participation in the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland, and the discussions he held with the heads of participating delegations and international financial institutions to strengthen Iraqi relations and consolidate joint cooperation, in a way that serves mutual interests.
The meeting witnessed discussion on Security developments and violations to which Iraqi cities and lands are exposed, and the violation of sovereignty, undermining stability, and threat to the safety of citizens, and emphasizing that the Iraqi government is the body authorized to impose the law, and follow up on measures that ensure the preservation of the protection of Iraq’s security and sovereignty.
The two sides stressed the importance of supporting the government. In implementing its ministerial program, especially related to providing services and improving the standard of living of citizens, moving forward with the reform program and reducing cases of corruption, in order to provide a suitable environment for investment and stimulate the private sector to contribute to building and rebuilding the country.
The statement stressed "the necessity of addressing the joint files between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, in accordance with the constitution and the law, and resolving the issue of the salaries of the region's employees, in a way that guarantees their rights and secures their strength and source of livelihood."
