Shafaq News/ Iraq ranked seventh in the list of the most corrupt Arab countries, and ranked 154th in the most transparent country in the world for the year 2023 out of 180 countries listed, and thus Iraq remains in the same rank in the Arab world since 2021.
Transparency International stated in its report today, Tuesday, which was reviewed by Shafaq News Agency, that “Denmark ranked first among the least corrupt and most transparent countries in the world with 90 points, followed by Finland, which ranked second with 87 points, then New Zealand ranked third with 85 points.” Norway came in fourth place with 84 points.
According to the report, “Iraq ranked 154th globally with 23 points and ranked seventh in the Arab world, ahead of it were Somalia, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Libya and Eritrea as the most corrupt Arab countries.”
Somalia, Syria, South Sudan, Venezuela, and Yemen ranked highest in corruption, occupying the last places in the table, according to the report.
The organization issues an annual report on corruption, which is an evaluation on a scale from zero to 100 that classifies countries from most to least corrupt. The report is based on data collected by the organization from 13 international bodies, including the World Bank and the World Economic Forum.
