The Parliamentary Women and Childhood Committee returned the draft domestic violence law to the government two months ago due to some controversial points that need to be amended. Committee member Ibtisam Al-Hilali told Al-Sabah: The Women’s Committee has two laws: child protection and domestic violence, noting that the domestic violence law has not been enacted for three sessions and was returned to the government. She added that the law has many observations and amendments, in addition to the lack of agreement between the blocs and sects regarding its paragraphs, indicating that the law must be consistent with the principles of Islamic law and our morals. Al-Hilali pointed out that the committee is awaiting the government’s decision regarding it and returning it to the committee, noting that the child protection law is still subject to study and discussion.
