    Baghdad today - Sulaymaniyah
Sulaymaniyah Governorate hopes to reach a solution with Turkey during the visit of its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Baghdad on Monday, and to exploit the visit to “improve the image of the governorate” and remove the accusation that it is cooperating with “terrorist or banned parties,” represented by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.
The leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghiyath Surji, said today, Sunday (April 21, 2024), that Sulaymaniyah is an Iraqi city subject to federal laws .
Sorgi explained in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “Sulaymaniyah is an Iraqi city and there is no presence of terrorist or outlaw groups, and any gathering or entry of people, whether by land or air, is done through the flag of the federal government.”
He added, "The Iraqi government, through Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, is required to remove this view and the accusation that Turkey accuses Sulaymaniyah of, through the dialogues that will be held with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iraq."
He stated that "Sulaymaniyah pays the price of incitement carried out by Kurdish parties and false information, and in fact there is no activity of any terrorist group in the city."
It is hoped that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will arrive in Baghdad next Monday, in a visit that is the first of its kind in 12 years, which Al-Sudani described as “a visit that is not fleeting” and for the first time will witness the development of solutions instead of deporting them.
Turkey accuses Sulaymaniyah Governorate of harboring “leaders and militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party,” and imposed a ban on movement from Turkey to Sulaymaniyah Airport, and vice versa, on charges that the airport is being used by Kurdistan Workers’ Party militants.
