    Al-Sumaria News - Local

Governor of Karbala, Nassif Jassim Muhammad Al-Khattabi, revealed “strange” cases taking place in the governorate, represented by employees leaving their main homes and resorting to “housing in the past” in order to obtain additional funds, while indicating that the second homes inhabited by the poor should not be demolished. As long as projects in the governorate are not obstructed.

Al-Khattabi told Al-Sumaria, “There are encroaching homes that are obstructing existing projects in the governorate, and they will be removed in a professional and thoughtful manner,” noting that “there is an inventory of poor families who live in encroachment and slums, and we have helped them and placed them in decent homes.”

He also pointed out that "there are overflowing homes inhabited by employees who have good financial income, or they have rented their main homes and go to these random homes in order to earn additional money, which has affected poor families," stressing that "these matters we will address."

He stated that "there is a strategic plan with the local and federal governments to organize the city in a correct manner and address slums," noting that "there is no demolition of overgrown homes inhabited by the poor as long as projects in the governorate are not obstructed." He stated that "it is our duty to provide decent housing for the residents of the governorate in order to help the residents of slums."
