Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani pointed out yesterday, Wednesday, that Iraq has become a safe and attractive environment for capital from international companies, and a preferred market for businessmen and investors, thanks to the facilities and legislation provided by the government since its formation.
The Prime Minister's Media Office statement stated that Al-Sudani chaired the eighth meeting of the Supreme Committee for Reconstruction and Investment, which included discussing a number of important service, investment, economic and development projects, which fall within the government's priorities to revitalize all sectors, according to what was stated in the government program.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the need not to slow down or delay in making decisions that are compatible with the economic reform approach, which represents one of the government’s priorities, and to proceed with the government’s plans to implement strategic and development projects.
According to the statement, the meeting witnessed the approval of a number of decisions in various economic and investment sectors, including those related to the health and environmental sectors, including those related to the industrial and agricultural sectors, in addition to the educational sector.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting to follow up on the implementation of networking between the border ports and the completion of the implementation of the customs automation system (ASYCUDA), in which several topics were discussed, including a summary of the implementation of the second phase of the ASYCUDA system, the first phase of the border ports management system and the completion of Network connectivity, in addition to a system for monitoring trucks and their weights on the roads without stopping them.
The meeting witnessed the approval of next September as the date for stopping the paper system and working with the electronic system in customs. The meeting also approved strengthening the work of the General Authority of Customs with expertise through specialists and technicians from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the field of computers and e-government.
Al-Sudani directed that a workshop be held to follow up and draft the draft customs law, as well as follow up on the link between the Central Bank of Iraq and private banks, and support the networking system and management of border crossings.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski.
During the meeting, the course of the dialogue being conducted by the Supreme Military Committee, concerned with ending the coalition’s mission, was discussed, as well as ways to resolve this dialogue to reach an agreement on a timetable for implementation.
