Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Mohammed Ali Tamim, discussed today, Thursday, with the current railway rehabilitation team, extending a new line from the Shuaiba area to Basra Governorate.
A statement by the Ministry of Planning, received by "Al-Eqtisad News", stated that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Mohammed Ali Tamim, chaired a meeting of the current railway rehabilitation team, as part of the practical steps to implement the development road project."
He pointed out that, "During the meeting, which was attended by the Prime Minister's Advisor for Technical Affairs, Mohammed Al-Daraji, the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Planning and Transport, and a number of general managers and heads of departments in the Ministries of Finance, Planning, Transport, Housing and Municipalities, the stages, mechanisms and costs of rehabilitating the existing railway lines extending from Basra Governorate to Baghdad, and from Baghdad to the Fishkhabur crossing in Nineveh Governorate, were discussed, along with extending a new line from the Al-Shuaiba area to Basra Governorate."
He added, "During the meeting, the mechanisms for including the project, the required financial allocations, and assigning the Ministry of Transport to prepare plans and designs according to the specified sections of the railways were discussed."
