    The Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee revealed, today, Tuesday (July 30, 2024), the truth about the existence of "fake companies" that obtain huge projects in Iraq.
    Committee member Mohammed Al-Ziyadi told Baghdad Today, "The talk about the existence of fictitious companies obtaining huge projects is an accusation without any evidence, and aims to tarnish the country's reputation, especially since we are approaching an investment and industrial revolution."
    He explained that "it is not easy for any company to obtain contracts for large projects and others, as there are specialized committees that study companies before referring any project to them, and Iraq deals with solid companies and there is no fictitious company that has received any project."
    The member of the parliamentary investment and development committee added, "There are specialized government agencies that take information about any company that applies for any project, whether it is a foreign company or a local Iraqi company, and the government refuses to hand over any project to any company that does not have the experience and competence."
    Observers say that there are economic and commercial activities of companies with fictitious names and "virtual" capitals that are spread throughout most areas of Iraq and are involved in projects that do not actually exist on the ground.
    While some Iraqis accept these companies to obtain a higher return on profit, and often the work of these companies begins with honest financial transactions at first with a number of people to attract others, and the inflows into these fictitious companies are greater than the outflows, and the difference will be in the interest of the company and it exploits part of this money to improve its image in front of others and to gain fake credibility and harness some people to be distributors or agents who attract money and distribute profits and with time it gradually reaches the point of collapse, because no matter how much its income is, it will not be able to cover its dues, and here its fate is either to disappear or vanish or its money is smuggled abroad and people fall victim to fraud and their money is lost.
