Economic researcher, Munar Al-Abidi, confirmed that the rise in the dollar exchange rate does not affect the common citizen, while he explained the inflation rate in Iraq.
Al-Obaidi said, “Iraq is looking for effective solutions to preserve foreign currency within its territory,” noting that “all the policies followed did not end the problem from the beginning, as Iraq lacks local industry, with imports continuing and markets being flooded with cheap products, in addition to the absence of quality control.”
He added, "The data of the Central Statistical Organization indicated that the inflation rate in Iraq reached 4%," noting that "the rise or fall of inflation in Iraq depends relatively on the atmosphere of the region and the tensions it is witnessing."
Al-Obaidi added, “The Council of Ministers had previously imposed a tax on imported flour at a rate of 10%, then 25%, and this will have side effects represented by an increase in the prices of food and products manufactured from wheat.”
He explained that “initiatives are continuing to control the dollar exchange rate,” noting that “the rise in the dollar exchange rate does not affect the ordinary citizen, especially in terms of basic materials such as fuel, electricity, and others, and that most traders of goods and foodstuffs buy the dollar through the platform and at the official price.”
