    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Member of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee, MP Haider Al-Mutairi, proposed today, Wednesday (August 7, 2024), a proposal to return students’ money at a rate equal to the percentage of the shortage in the cadres of private universities in Iraq.
Al-Mutairi said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "The Private Education Law No. 25 of 2016, in its first article, subjected the university, college and private institute to the supervision and evaluation of the Ministry of Higher Education, which means that any violations can be held accountable according to the official regulations and instructions."
He added, "The reports of visits by parliamentary higher education committees to many private universities and colleges in the past months revealed several violations, most notably the lack of staff, laboratories, halls, and safety requirements. These are documented in official reports in addition to the minutes of the compliance rules committees that already exist in the Ministry of Higher Education."
Al-Mutairi pointed out the "necessity of returning a percentage of the fees paid by students, such that it equals the percentage of the shortage in educational cadres and supplies, within a fair and just principle, stressing the necessity for private universities and colleges to adhere to the instructions."
