    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Transport will soon complete the first dry port stations at the entrances to Baghdad as part of the retail yards project, to prevent the entry of large trucks, relieve traffic congestion, and reduce environmental pollution in the capital.
The director of the media office at the ministry, Maitham Al-Safi, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Eqtisad News”, that the dry ports project in Baghdad includes four stations, the first of which (Baghdad - Anbar - Babylon) will be completed soon, after it was started last year, with the participation of solid companies that were contracted according to international specifications, and with an implementation period of 560 days.
He added that the station, which has an area of 400 dunums in the Al-Yusufiyah district, includes electronic gates for trucks to enter and exit, paved and fenced streets and yards for vehicles and trucks, with covered parking lots for saloon cars, in addition to electricity and water stations, a restaurant, a prayer room, two security centers, and another for civil defense.
Al-Safi continued that the project includes a ground scale, a hotel, areas for livestock and vegetables, uncovered storage yards, a fuel station, and refrigerated and frozen warehouses with regular ones. He explained that the three remaining stations are (Baghdad - Salah al-Din) with an area of 384 dunams in the Taji district, (Baghdad - Kut) in the Wahda district with an area of 210 dunams, and (Baghdad - Diyala) in the Rashidiya district with an area of 210 dunams. The transportation spokesman explained that the yards will prevent large trucks from roaming within the cities.
