    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee revealed, today, Thursday (August 15, 2024), the latest results of the security movements on the so-called "Sacrifice Movement" in Iraq, while indicating the need to be cautious of these suspicious movements.
Committee member MP Yasser Iskandar said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "Al-Qurban is a suspicious movement that emerged in the past months in some governorates with very small numbers that were controlled by the security services, and most of its influential figures are behind bars."
He added, "Al-Qurban has no real impact and its file is huge in the media and the security services are serious about tracking its figures and there is remarkable progress in this direction, stressing that any suspicious movement is subject to legal accountability."
Iskandar explained that "the community's awareness and interaction with the warnings issued by the security services is of utmost importance in order to block the path of any suspicious movements and prevent the deviation of youth."
An informed source revealed, on Wednesday (July 24, 2024), that 7 individual operations were carried out in 4 governorates to target what he called the “Qurban” group, indicating that the results of the investigations will reveal many of the secrets of this group in terms of financing and planning.
The source said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "The total number of operations carried out to track down the cells of the Qurban group during the current July rose to 7, carried out in 4 Iraqi governorates through joint security detachments."
He added that "the initial investigations provided very important information about the group's activities and their deployment cells and gave confirmation that their numbers exceed what was determined months ago," noting that "two of the group's most important leaders were overthrown during the past 72 hours while trying to escape from one governorate to another."
The source explained that "the results of the investigations will reveal many secrets of this group in terms of funding, its most important leaders, and what its plans are," noting that "there are direct orders from the highest security authorities to end this group and seek to dismantle its cells in any region."
A few days ago, the Iraqi National Security Service announced the infiltration of the “Qurbaniyyun Movement” or “Ali Allahiya” and the arrest of more than 30 of its members in the provinces of Wasit, Basra and Dhi Qar, after recording 5 suicide cases among them, with ages under 22 years, as they commit suicide by “drawing lots”, as a sacrifice to Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
An informed source revealed, on July 5, 2024, that high-level orders had been issued to pursue the Qurban group in the central and southern governorates to prevent it from turning into armed groups that would harm the country’s security stability.
