    Information/Baghdad...
Former MP Hassan Fadham accused the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday of trying to polish the image of the American presence, calling for the withdrawal of these forces as soon as possible.

Faddam told Al-Maalouma, "There are attempts by the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to polish the image of the American military presence inside Iraq, by announcing a change in the relationship with the United States from a military security relationship to an economic and political relationship based on respect for the two countries."
He added, "The reality of the situation requires the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq. If there were no forces inside Iraq, the delegations would have remained in Baghdad and not left for Washington in order to reach an understanding about the withdrawal of these forces."
He explained that "there are American bases that are repeatedly targeted and there is logistical support that the American forces present inside Iraq receive, pointing out that the statement of the Secretary of State that there are no American forces inside Iraq means that there are no ground forces, but this does not negate the presence of forces inside the military bases and American aircraft that carry out sorties from time to time."
