As part of the programs to expand and improve the services provided to citizens, the Ministry of Commerce is moving towards establishing new shopping centers in all governorates according to the hypermarket system, and will start in five governorates, to guarantee food prices in local markets.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Mohammed Hanoun, said in an interview with "Al-Sabah", followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the plan prepared by his ministry includes the return of central markets in a developed and modern way, which it has already started experimentally in the central market of Al-Amel neighborhood and converting it into a (hypermarket) with an area of up to ten thousand square meters.
He considered the project a distinctive shopping experience and will be carried out by adopting electronic payment to meet the needs of the family, as its wings include food products, electrical and electronic devices, in addition to all durable devices, stressing that they are sold at 20 percent less than their counterparts in local markets.
Hanoun pointed out that the experiment will save the consumer effort and time by finding his needs in one place, by adopting advanced supported and competitive shopping services for citizens, in addition to employing unemployed youth and providing other services from restaurants and entertainment games for children.
