    [size=45]Subhan Mulla Jiyad, political advisor to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, confirmed that the Iraqi government does not want to be part of the war between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah, noting that it worked to convince the armed factions of a political and diplomatic solution.[/size]
    [size=45]Jihad told the Turkish Anadolu Agency on Saturday that the Iraqi government supported stopping the Israeli attacks on Gaza and declaring a ceasefire that has been ongoing since October 7, 2023, explaining that Baghdad wanted to limit the war between Israel and Hamas and find a solution.[/size]
    [size=45]He added: "But unfortunately, they, especially those in the axis of resistance, provided a justification for expanding the war. And when Israel weakened Gaza, it moved the war to southern Lebanon."[/size]
    [size=45]“Pressure on Iraqi factions”[/size]
    [size=45]Al-Sudani’s advisor stated that Israel wanted to drag Iran into war, and that Iran, after seeing the American and Western support for Israel, refused to “fall into the trap,” adding that “Iran, which does not want war, should support a diplomatic and political solution.”[/size]
    [size=45]He said, “Pressure was exerted on the Iraqi factions and they understood the situation. The attack launched by the factions against Israel was limited and was a message of solidarity in the face of the bloodshed.”[/size]
    [size=45]“The conflict in Lebanon may end soon”[/size]
    [size=45]The political advisor stated that there are currently about 10,000 Lebanese immigrants in Iraq, explaining that “the arrival of Lebanese immigrants to Iraq is a temporary matter, and the conflicts in Lebanon are about to end,” stressing that “all parties, including Israel, are ready to make concessions.”[/size]
    [size=45]Jihad pointed to “an indirect agreement through the United States or France to end the war and declare a ceasefire,” indicating that “the conflict in Lebanon may end soon, and the Lebanese in Iraq do not prefer Iraq over Lebanon. However, if they want to stay in Iraq, our door is open to them.”[/size]
    [size=45]Last week, the Iraqi embassy in Damascus declared to the official newspaper that 11,000 Lebanese refugees had arrived in Iraq by land and air via Syria, noting that all their needs had been secured inside Iraq, shelters had been rented, and financial and food aid had been provided to hundreds of Lebanese remaining in Syria.[/size]
