    Baghdad Today - Diyala
An Iraqi popular movement revealed, today, Wednesday (October 23, 2024), its expectations for the Middle East after the escalation of the battle in southern Lebanon and the attempt to erase the suburb.
The head of the popular movement in Diyala, Ammar Shanba al-Tamimi, said in an interview with Baghdad Today, “The entity realized after the failure of the 2006 war that it was facing the dilemma of the resistance in southern Lebanon and Gaza, and that they had come to have control over matters in drawing up new rules that it was forced to adhere to as a matter of deterrence, not the general political situation, because the entity only fears the whizzing of bullets that lead to direct losses in its ranks, and America takes care of everything else, which has come to submit to the entity directly because its leaders confirm every day that they are Zionists, and this expresses the essence of the White House’s unprecedented support for the battles of extermination against the Palestinians and the Lebanese.”
He added, "We expect that the entity is trying to pressure and rush towards southern Lebanon, a distance of 40 km, through firepower, and to commit genocide and destroy everything, i.e. a second Gaza, and then destabilize the situation in Syria by assassinating President Bashar al-Assad, and here the chaos that the entity and Washington want will prevail."
Al-Tamimi pointed out that, "After this, the decisive battle will take place, which will force Iraq to intervene in it in any way, because the entity does not want to achieve the principle of security for its entity, but rather to achieve its dream of what is known as Greater Israel, and this is what we must pay attention to."
He added, "All the initiatives that America is currently proposing are lies. By reading everything that has been proposed since the beginning of the genocide crimes in Gaza until now, we see that America is going along with the entity in its plans, and even providing diplomatic cover and financial and military support to it under the pretext of self-defense."
Israeli leaders approved plans late Monday to send ground forces into Lebanon, and the Israeli military said its forces had begun crossing the border to target sites that "pose a direct threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel."
The Israeli ground moves came in the wake of intensive raids on Lebanon over the past two weeks, which resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths, in an attempt by Israeli forces to impose a new reality with Hezbollah in order to secure the return of northern settlers to their settlements.
Although the Israeli occupation army announced that its forces "began limited and targeted raids against Hezbollah targets," the plan may develop into a broader and longer-term operation, especially with the deployment of thousands of additional troops in the north in recent days.
The nature of the forces, the tasks assigned to them, and the attempts to infiltrate the towns of Maroun al-Ras and Kfar Kila indicate that the occupation forces are seeking to conduct reconnaissance operations with live fire to examine Hezbollah’s combat capabilities and the possibility of expanding the ground operation or limiting it to special and limited operations.
The first clash between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli special forces was a harsh lesson for the latter, who suffered heavy losses in the first hours of their ground operations inside Lebanese territory. The Israeli army acknowledged the deaths of 8 soldiers, including 3 officers, as a result of being ambushed.
