    Economy News - Follow-up
The Baghdad Outskirts Municipalities Directorate, affiliated with Baghdad Governorate, announced today, Tuesday, a gradual plan to implement service activities specific to the areas on the outskirts of the capital, while affirming its efforts to develop the surrounding areas in Baghdad to be attractive to the residents of the center.
Director of Baghdad's outskirts municipalities, Yasser Al-Quraishi, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the Baghdad outskirts municipalities directorate began its urban movement in 2019 after a hiatus of 10 to 11 years due to the lack of infrastructure in the city centers affiliated with the municipalities of Baghdad Governorate and municipal institutions, as the architectural renaissance began with the completion of sewage projects in the areas of (Mahmoudiya, Yusufiya, Latifiya, Diyala Bridge, Madain and Rashid District), and these were the first areas with complete infrastructure of water and sewage networks.
" Al-Quraishi added, "The directorate then began the superficial works of paving roads and sidewalks until we have now reached the stage of preparing (landscape) or what is called afforestation and establishing gardens and parks," explaining that "the directorate has developed a gradual plan because it cannot cover the financial amounts for service activities in the outskirts of Baghdad at one time."
He pointed out that "the plan included: first starting with the infrastructure, then the superstructure, and then the parks and gardens to be the final service works for all the regions," stressing that "the Baghdad municipalities seek to develop the surrounding areas in Baghdad to be attractive to the residents of the center to begin the reverse migration from the center of the governorate to its outskirts."
